How To Change Default Download Path In Windows

[Simple Method Of Moving Downloads]

There is a simple method for changing the default download path of all file in Windows, through which the users can select a separate location of their own choosing.

This location can be somewhere else on the computer, or even Online, depending on the preference of the user, as well as the options available.

A major reason for going through with such a thing is because currently the default downloads folder is located on the C Drive, which also contains the operating system.

This not only reduces the space the downloads folder can access, but also puts your downloads at risk, just in case your computer decides to die someday.

This is why it is important to follow through with the following steps, in order to change the default download location with ease.

  1. Open “Windows Explorer”.
  2. Go to the location you want your downloads to be saved in.
  3. Create a new folder for downloads and name it.
  4. Navigate to the “This PC” section of your computer.
  5. You will see the default “Downloads” folder here.
  6. Right click on the folder.
  7. Click on “Properties”.
  8. Select the “Location” tab.
  9. You will see the current location path of the downloads folder here.
  10. Click the “Move” button under this path.
  11. In the popup, navigate to the new folder you have created.
  12. Select the folder.
  13. Wait for the downloads to be copied to the next location.
  14. Click “OK” and close the window.

With these simple steps, you will be able to easily move the Downloads folder to any location of your choosing. Have fun.
