The MAC address or Media Access Control Address is a unique 12-digit identification number that can be found on almost all electronic devices.

This number applies to network interfaces, ethernet cards, and WiFi cards, since it’s used to uniquely identify a host on any given network.

For this reason this number is generally assigned by the manufacturer, after which it is safely stored on the hardware and can be Accessed anytime you want.

In addition to accessing this information, you can also change the address if you want. While this is not recommended for regular user, but for power users it can be a very useful task to accomplish.

So, if you want to actually perform this change, follow these simple steps:

  1. Open “Control Panel”.
  2. Open “Network & Sharing Center”.
  3. Click on “Change Adapter Settings”.
  4. Right click on the adapter.
  5. Select “Properties” from the menu.
  6. In the window that opens up as a result, click on the “Configure” button.
  7. In the next window, click on the “Advanced” tab.
  8. From the “Property” list, select “Network Address”.
  9. The “Not Present” Option will be selected by default on the right side.
  10. Select the “Value” option above it.
  11. Input the new MAC address that you want to assign to the device.
  12. Save and close the window.
  13. Open “Command Prompt”.
  14. Type ipconfig/all to check if the new MAC address shows up.
  15. Restart the computer to make the change permanent.

With these simple steps, you will be able to easily change the MAC address of your Windows computer.
