Most of the times these ads are relatively harmless, however, other times they can be quite embarrassing and irritating to see and be seen by someone else.

Facebook chooses these ads specifically for you based on what you do on Facebook, and the guesses Facebook makes based on these choices. So, in principle, by controlling these preferences, you can also control which ads you get to see.

To control these preference, just follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Facebook Account.
  2. Open “Settings” and click on the “Ads” section in the left menu bar.
  3. Click “Edit” next to the “Ads Based On My Preferences” option.
  4. Click on the “Visit Ad Preferences” button.
  5. You will then be redirected to a page with all your preferences.
  6. These preferences are divided by subjects and you can see them by clicking on the relevant subject.
  7. To remove certain preferences, click the “X” icon next to the name of the preference.
