How To Find And Interact With iTunes Backups

[Easy Steps To Find Backups On Mac And Windows]

We are often advised to create backups of our devices just in case something bad happens and you want to restore your device to your preferred settings. This process is quite easy when it comes to iPhone’s as the backups are done with just one click, through iTunes.

However, every time you back up your device, it doesn’t really delete the old backup. What this means is that all your backups keep accumulating in one place, all the while eating up precious storage space.

Unfortunately, most people don’t know where these backups are, so they can’t delete them either. If you want to know where to find these backups, then follow these simple steps:

On Windows

  1. Open File Explorer.
  2. Navigate to C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
  3. Replace [username] with your account name.
  4. If you’ve used multiple devices on the same computer, use your device’s UDID number to identify the relevant backups.
  5. Sort through the backups based on “Date Created”.
  6. Delete the backups you don’t need.
  7. Copy the backups you need to an external location for safekeeping.

On Mac

  1. Launch iTunes.
  2. Open “preferences” and select “Devices”.
  3. All your backups will be listed here, along with the device names and dates.
  4. Right click on individual backups to archive or delete them.

With these easy steps, you will be able to find and interact with all your iTunes backups for all your Apple devices.
