How To Save Space In Windows 10

[Use CompactOS To Compress Windows System Files]

CompactOS is a special feature in Windows 10, which allows you to compress the Windows System Files, in order to create extra space on your computer.

In doing so, it opens up a lot of space on your computer, depending on the version of Windows you use, as well as the number of programs you have installed.

This feature is quite similar to the WIMBoot feature that was already present in Windows 8.1, but is a lot more smoother in this iteration.

The difference in overall performance is also another reason why this version of the compressing feature is so much better than the previous one.

However, despite it’s advancement, it is only recommended to be used, after you have already gone through other options of Clearing Space In Windows 10, which in themselves are pretty effective without having any side effect on the system.

But for power users, who still want to use this feature in order to clear up space, you can do so by following these steps:

  1. Run Command Prompt As Admin.
  2. Write the following command and press Enter – Compact.exe /CompactOS:query
  3. You will receive a message regarding the compression status of your computer.
  4. If you system isn’t already compressed, write the following command and press Enter – Compact.exe /CompactOS:always
  5. Wait for the function to complete it’s work.
  6. You will receive a message regarding the new compression status of your computer.
  7. To deactivate this feature, write the following command and press Enter – Compact.exe /CompactOS:never
  8. Your system will go back to it’s original size.

With these simple commands, you will be able to easily reduce the size of your Windows Systems Files in order to clear up more space.
