It is common knowledge that Coconuts are great for your health. So much so, that almost all parts of the coconut, except for the hard shell can be consumed directly without any extra preparation.

However, the actual process of breaking open a coconut to get access to the good stuff in itself can be a really frustrating experience. Not to mention, messy.

This is what discourages a lot of people from opening and eating their coconuts at home, thus leaving them no choice but to go to shops that sell coconut based products for a profit.

However, there are still quite simple ways in which you can bypass the headache of opening the coconut and easily gain access to all the nutritional benefits.

To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you have proper protective eyewear and gloves.
  2. Locate the 3 “Dark Circles” located on top of the coconut.
  3. Use a wine opener/corkscrew to puncture these holes through completely.
  4. Once done, drain the water of the coconut into a glass.
  5. Look closely between the circles again to find a seam.
  6. This seam runs through the entire body of the coconut.
  7. Repeatedly hit the seam with a hammer at regular intervals.
  8. Wait for a crack to appear across the seam.
  9. Keeping hitting along the crack with the hammer until the coconut splits in half.
  10. Use a knife around the edges of the split coconut to remove it’s insides.

With these easy steps, you will be able to easily get all parts of the coconut without making a mess in your kitchen. Have fun.
