Everyone owns old Android devices that are too outdated for daily use. It is possible to reuse these devices by turning them into a security webcam which can be accessed over the internet. While in general practice it takes a lot of time to set this sort of system up, a new app from Perch Technologies is here to make the whole experience easy and hassle free.
With the Perch app you can turn your old phone or tablet into a Live-Streaming Webcam with Motion Detection and DVR Recording facilities. All you have to do is follow these simple steps:
You can now access the camera feed from any browser, anywhere, by just going to getperch.com and signing in with the account you created during the setup. Once logged in, you’ll be ale to see a live feed of your device’s camera, as well as the option to set up more than one device.
From here, you can even set up the motion detection features on the device by tapping the + button near the top-right corner of the video feed. Once set up, you will get notifications whenever something moves in the motion sensitive zone.
The DVR feature needs no special explanation. All you have to do is hover your mouse pointer over the video and use the slider at the bottom of the frame to go through past footage. The slide will also contain small markers that indicate any motion that the device captured.
You can access all the features through the perch app on your current android device as well, just in case you aren’t present near a computer at the time.
This setup is easy to use and great for remote surveillance. If you have regular power backup and Wi-Fi connection, you can even set up Perch to record and store 7 days worth of footage in a cloud account. So, if you have the need for a system like this, then go ahead and set up your perch.
