With the launch of iOS 10, your iPhone gets the ability to identify people that it sees in your pictures. However, since it has no other data than just facial recognition, it can only sort them out, but not identify them by name.
You can help cover this gap by entering the names for the people in the pictures yourself. All you need to do is follow these steps:
Open the “Photos” app.
Scroll to the album named “People”.
It will contain all the pics of people your phone has recognized.
Tap on any person’s thumbnail.
Tap on “Add Name” to enter the name of that person.
Your phone will automatically associate all the pictures of that person with the name you entered.
If by any chance your phone believes a person in two different pictures to be two separate people, you can also merge them together.
Go to the bottom of the album and tap on “Add People”.
Select all the thumbnails for the person and tap “Merge”.
Add the name for the person and finish by saving.
With these steps, you will be able to teach your phone to identify people through name. Have fun.
