How To Setup Facial Recognition Lock On Your Android Phone

Between pin codes, swipe patterns, fingerprint locks and smart devices, there are a million ways to lock and unlock your device. But the fastest and least utilized method for smartphone safety is Facial Recognition, the ability of your phone to lock/unlock itself, just by looking at your face.

This feature has been present in Android and Chromebooks for quite some time. You can access and use it on any working android device with Smart Lock features.

To turn it on, all you have to do is follow these simple steps:

  1. Open the “Settings” app in your device and go to the “Security” section.
  2. Click on the “Smart Lock” button. If the button is disabled, then enable it first.
  3. Make sure you are in a well lit place before selecting the “Trusted Face” option.
  4. Click on the “Trusted Face” option.
  5. The front camera app will open. Make sure your face is inside the oval outline.
  6. Wait for the device to finish recording your face.
  7. Finish the setup and test the facial recognition lock.

Now that you know how to use this unique feature, you can go ahead and use your phone without ever having to enter a password again.
