Everyone has people in their contacts that they only know by relationship. Whether the relationship is professional or personal, it’s often hard to remember names and phone numbers. Apple has given Siri a way to learn about those relationships to make your life easier.
In order to teach Siri about your relationships, follow these steps:
Activate Siri by holding the “Home” button or saying “Hey Siri”.
Give Siri a command regarding your relationship with the contact in question. E.g John Smith is my doctor, Jane Smith is my cousin etc.
You can use one word substitutions based on professional and personal relationships as well as based on the nicknames saved in their contact form.
Once Siri recognizes the prompt, it will ask for confirmation of the relationship. If the information is correctly noted down, tap or say “Yes”.
Siri with show a confirmation page highlighting the new information for the contact.
By following these steps you can save easily save your relationship information and use it later for calling or texting purposes. For e.g Instead of “Call/Text John Smith”, you can say “Call/Text my Doctor”.
