It is important to shut down your monitor whenever you lock your PC, as it helps save power and also keeps your monitor safe from prying eyes. In order to automate this process, all you need to do is follow one of these two methods:
Download and install the NirCmd tool. Go to Desktop and Right Click. Choose “Create A Shortcut”.
When prompted, browse to where the folder you installed the tool in.
Enter the following text ““C:\path\to\nircmd.exe” cmdwait 1000 monitor off.”
Go to Shortcut Properties.
Create the shortcut key “Windows Key + L” for the lockdown.
Add an icon to the program and save it on your desktop.
Go to the desktop and test the shortcut.
With this tool, you can easily create a shortcut for monitor shutdown. When activated, it will automatically turn off your monitor.
Download and install the MPower Saver application. Add the application to the “Startup Programs” list.
Press “Windows Key + L” to test the application.
Go into the advanced settings of the applications to set custom schedules for shutdown, hibernation and restarts.
This application will automatically start when you start your PC and help you control your Monitor and PC shutdowns with ease.
