How To Block Android Games From Using Cellular Data

[Use Firewall App To Restrict Games to Wi-Fi Only]

App use a lot of data to operate these days. This becomes especially true when it comes to games that are backed over servers and can suck up a lot of data for both maintenance and updates.

If you are on a strict Cellular Data plan, this can become a worry as you might run out of data very quickly. To prevent this from happening, you can always use your apps just on Wifi.

However, there are times when you absolutely have to work with only Cellular data. During these times you can use the Data Firewall app to lock your apps to Wifi connections only, so that you don’t waste any extra cellular data.

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Download, install and run the app.
  2. When prompted, allow the app permission to “Create A VPN Connection”.
  3. You will now see the list of apps installed on your smartphone.
  4. Along with the names of the apps, there will be a cellular and wifi icon.
  5. Click on both icons, and then select “Allow Connection”.
  6. Once done, you can now browse the list of apps and block the ones you want.
  7. Just tap on the cellular icon next to the app, and select “Restrict Data”.

With these easy steps, you will be able to block heavy data using apps from accessing the internet via a cellular data network. All that traffic will only go through Wi-Fi, thus saving you lots of data in the long term.
