How To Navigate Walks Without GPS

[Smart Navi App Uses Phone Sensors Instead Of GPS]

Navigation is a hassle for smartphone users, as GPS navigation uses a lot of battery. Now an app called Smart Navi promises an alternative to this form of navigation, by using your phone’s accelerometers and gyroscope to help you navigate, instead of GPS.

This system works only for navigation while walking, but is nevertheless highly accurate and power saving. To use it, follow these steps:

  1. Download, install and run the app.
  2. You will get a quick set-up guide popup. Click “Next”.
  3. Enter your height in inches/centimeters on the following menu. Then press “Start”.
  4. This app will use your height to measure the length of your steps.
  5. Allow the app to lock on to your location using GPS once.
  6. Search for the location you want to get directions to.
  7. Start Walking.

With these easy steps, you will be able to navigate to anywhere within walking distance. The app only uses GPS location once, before turning towards the other sensors, thus giving you a power saving navigation experience.
