How to Reduce The Size Of Microsoft Word Files

[Compress Office Documents That Contain Multiple Images]

While Microsoft Word already tries to reduce the size of it’s files, documents containing multiple pictures can still take up a lot of space. If you want to reduce the size of such documents, then follow these steps.

  1. Click any picture to select it.
  2. Click on the “Format” button that appears on the Office toolbar.
  3. Click on the “Compress Pictures” button.
  4. Click on the “Apply Only To This Picture” if you want to compress only the picture you selected.
  5. Click on the “Delete Cropped Areas Of Pictures” if you have cropped pictures in your document and want to remove the areas you’ve cropped out (Only if you’re using cropped images).
  6. Pick the resolution that you want to save your picture in to ensure quality.
  7. Click the “OK” button to save the changes.
  8. Go to File>Options>Advanced.
  9. Scroll to the “Image Size And Quality” section.
  10. Select the “Discard Editing Data” to delete all the formatting information collected on your images.
  11. Save the changes as well as the document.
  12. Close the document and check the new size.

These simple steps will let you reduce the size of your world file by a good margin. Be sure to keep a backup copy of the original sized file in case you don’t like the changes and want to go back and try again.
